I WANT TO SMELL THE PERFUME IS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE…


… which focuses on women empowerment and environmental issues. The name itself rose from the life experiences of our founder, Wilma Empalmado Dadivas. It is a strong dream to encourage vulnerable women all over the world to take their opportunity and break free from inequalities.


Our main goal is to assist financially disadvantaged women to get skill training, continuous job opportunities and monthly income, without having to leave their family care-taking duties. The next goals will be to reduce the excessive usage of single-use plastic bags and marine debris especially derelict fishing nets, which is one of the most damaging debris to our marine ecosystem.



GENERAL SYSTEM

Our MOC (Micro Organic Communities) was humbly started by a small group of 8 women in Desa Pasir Angin (Bogor) with help from TNP2K (National Team for the Acceleration of Poverty Reduction). Through the past three years, our MOC groups have been expanding around few areas like DKI Jakarta, Bekasi, Bogor, West Java, Bitung and Manado.


We are always aiming for further expansion. Our existing MOCs are still growing with additional members each time as well. Today we are collaborating with a total of 280 women in 22 communities.


The expansion of existing and trained MOCs are being done independently by the women, as we are using the “spiderweb system” for the training method. This system encourages and supports the women to recruit and train the new ones, thus making the MOCs grow organically and empower the women to be independent trainers and leaders.




OUR LOGO

The logo is designed with a vivid coloured fingerprint to represent the individuality of the Micro Organic Community (MOC) women, as each fingerprint is unique.


The fingerprint also symbolizes the”mark” and “visibility” of these individuals, as we want to ensure their social visibility (by assisting them to be registered under the system, such as having their own bank account).

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS


I Want to Smell The Perfume partakes in achieving Sustainable Development Goals, currently working towards:

  • SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) simultaneously by providing job opportunities for women who couldn’t work in formal/informal sectors due to their situation with working skills and responsibilities as housewives. This offers the same opportunity to earn income as men and give them something to lean on in a difficult situation, as they can rely on themselves.
  • SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) starting by initiating a local circular economy with our local suppliers, clients and MOC women. SDG 17 (Partnerships for The Goals) by collaborating with companies/initiations/governmental bodies to achieve more goals.
  • SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) Our products are designed to reduce unnecessary single-use plastic waste. They are also being locally made with locally sourced material, which is mostly upcycled or recycled if those options are available. 
  • SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 15 (Life on Land) also simultaneously by reducing single-use plastic bag waste, and biodegradable single-use packaging (paper bag etc) because although they are recyclable/biodegradable, they still use a lot of resources and left a lot of carbon footprint to be distributed.
